For those who have the financial means to afford it, there is a level of exclusive addiction rehab that includes a number of amenities and extra services that wealthy individuals are normally accustomed to. While some of these clinics are available here in the UK, exclusive rehab is often undertaken abroad.
To be sure, exclusive rehab is not something everyone supports. However, as long as the treatment programmes offered follow methods that have already proved successful, we believe they are viable alternative for those who want them. That said, let’s look more closely at exclusive rehab.
Purpose of Exclusive Rehab
Some argue against exclusive rehab on the basis that it is not necessary to achieve long-term sobriety. That’s true. Anybody can recover from addiction with the right attitude and commitment, combined with professional treatments. It doesn’t require exclusive amenities to do so. Nevertheless, for some people, exclusive rehab allows them to undergo treatment in an environment that is more suited to their everyday surroundings.
Here are just a couple of reasons an individual might choose exclusive rehab:
-
Anonymity – There may be a situation where one of our clients is well known in the UK. This celebrity may interfere with rehab because of the distractions that come with it. However, if the client is not well known abroad, choosing exclusive rehab outside the country affords some anonymity. The client can seek rehab treatment without the distraction of celebrity.
-
Celebrity – The other end of that scale is the individual who is well known around the world. No matter where he/she goes, people will recognise them. By attending an exclusive rehab programme abroad, that individual is likely to be in the company of others with the same problem. Therefore, while anonymity may not be possible, being with people in a similar situation removes the distraction of celebrity.
-
Amenities – Addiction recovery is typically a stressful process regardless of the programme and facilities chosen. For wealthy individuals, exclusive rehab offers some amenities they are normally accustomed to, thereby reducing some of the stress they are exposed to. If reducing that stress increases the chances of success, then it’s a good thing.
We understand there are some critics of exclusive rehab with very legitimate criticisms. From our perspective, it’s all about the results. If an exclusive clinic proves to be helpful to those who use the programmes, it matters not to us what amenities are offered. Yet if the clinic turns out to be nothing more than an exclusive holiday with no measurable results, it is not clinic we would recommend.
What Exclusive Rehab Offers
Any exclusive rehab clinic we work with offers, primarily, successful treatment programmes based on the following types of therapies:
-
supervised detox
-
12- step work
-
cognitive behavioural therapy
-
group therapy
-
one-on-one counselling
-
life skills building
-
customised treatment plans.
Beyond these basics, exclusive rehab also tends to offer other things wealthier clients deem necessary. For example, a rehab clinic in the Swiss Alps offers a remote location along with the privacy and beauty of the mountain environment.
Exclusive rehab may also offer things like:
-
Accommodations – Single rooms with en suite bathrooms tend to be normal for exclusive facilities. The privacy afforded by this arrangement provides more comfortable surroundings to clients.
-
Exercise Facilities – Where some lower-priced clinics offer small exercise rooms with a couple of machines, an exclusive rehab facility will have a better-equipped gym with all the latest machines and personal trainers. It’s not abnormal for luxury spas to be included as well.
-
Gourmet Meals – In many cases, the affluent are already depending on paid chefs to prepare their meals for them. Putting them in a residential situation requiring they prepare their own meals is not always the best idea, if they are not used to it. Exclusive rehabs may employ gourmet chefs.
What to Expect for Treatment
We want to make it clear that exclusive rehab facilities are exclusive only in the sense of their cost, location, and amenities. As far as treatment goes, they are no different. Successful clinics employ all of the best treatment options regardless of whether they are exclusive or not.
Just as an example, let’s look at detox. The detox process is one of breaking the physical addiction by requiring the individual to be completely separated from the substances he/she’s abusing. It is an uncomfortable process that is accompanied by moderate to severe withdrawal symptoms. Being in an exclusive rehab setting does not change that.
Cognitive behavioural therapy, also known as CBT, is another example. This therapy is one that will not change just because someone chooses an exclusive facility. CBT will still force the individual to come to grips with his or her addiction, what triggers it, and what he or she must do to avoid relapse. Once again, it can be an uncomfortable process that doesn’t change.
The point we are trying to make is this: exclusive rehab may offer you a list of services and amenities you will not find at lower-cost facilities. However, exclusive rehab does not mitigate your responsibility to undergo whatever treatments are necessary to break your addiction. You must still commit to doing whatever it takes regardless of how unpleasant things might become. Exclusive rehab only helps to make your stay a bit more comfortable.
Exclusive Rehab Locations
If you think exclusive rehab might be what you need to recover from addiction, your first priority is to get in touch with us. We will take the time to get to know you and your circumstances before making a recommendation. That includes your budget and your location preferences.
Some of the most exclusive rehab centres in the world are located in Southern California. However, they are populated mainly by American celebrities involved in entertainment and sports. A US-based facility might not be right for your circumstances. We do work with other facilities across Europe, if that’s the case.
It’s true that addiction does not discriminate according to annual income or job status. You may be very wealthy but still find you are addicted to drugs, alcohol, or some behaviour. If so, help is available right now. You simply need to call us so we can help arrange admission to residential treatment programme.
