Location and profile
We are proud to recommend this treatment programme in Birmingham due to its mix of traditional 12-step work and evidence-based therapies. We call it a ‘treatment programme’ instead of a clinic for one simple reason: rather than being a single facility housing clients from start to finish, the programme operates three facilities that clients progress through during the course of their treatments. Each facility offers a comfortable and welcoming environment.
- Alcohol abuse and dependency
- Cannabis abuse, misuse and dependency
- Cocaine abuse and dependency
- Abuse and dependency of heroin and other opiates
The treatment programme here is often described as a ‘journey’ rather than a treatment. This description accurately reflects the mind-set of the staff. Here, the staff believes that each client is on his or her own journey of figuring out why they are prone to addictive behaviours and what can be done to overcome. Furthermore, the staff are quite empathetic to the circumstance of clients, having undergone their own experiences with drug and alcohol problems. They firmly believe that every client who comes through their doors deserves the opportunity to free him or herself from addiction and experience the empowerment necessary to live addiction-free in the future.
As a fully residential programme, each of the three facilities includes a choice of either single or twin bedrooms with en suite facilities. Rooms are comfortable, but not overdone, with appropriate furnishings. Public spaces include recreational areas, yoga and meditation rooms, a swimming pool, gym, and peaceful garden. Clients are encouraged to take advantage of communal areas in order to support one another in their journeys.
Treatment Team and Programme
The journey principal fits very well with this programme, thanks to the many different treatment options they offer. The core of the programme is the traditional 12-step model originally developed by Alcoholics Anonymous in the 1930s. The facility enhances 12-step work with evidence-based therapies that include:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Interpersonal group therapy
- Node-Link mapping
- Motivational interviewing
- Holistic therapies
- Psycho-educational workshops
The programme goes one step further by helping clients deal with other issues that are directly and indirectly related to addiction. Those issues include things such as anger management, offending behaviour management, and problem solving issues. Clients in need of detox will be pleased to know that this programme offers medically supervised treatment. The staff includes medical and therapy professionals with proper training and certification, alongside trained support staff with the experience and knowledge needed to help each client.
Best Suited For
This rehab programme is very much geared toward a holistic approach to addiction recovery. It is ideal for individuals who believe there is more to addiction than just a physical relationship between the body and addictive substances. If you see recovery as a journey rather than a treatment, consider this facility.
